Spanish multinational LaNetro Zed is one of the leading
mobile content and services companies in the world. The company develops and
markets unique games, entertainment, personalization products, communications
tools, community services and Location Based Services (LBS). It distributes its
services through more than 45 mobile network operators in 15 countries including
major markets such as China, USA and Europe; Zed is its consumer brand. The firm,
with revenues of €135.6 million in 2005, is recognized for its innovation
capacity and proprietary content.

Javier,
37, has a Degree in Economics from Autónoma University of Madrid
and in European Business Studies from the British Humberside University.
In 1992, with his brother Ignacio they took over the general management
of Proein, a family business dedicated to the distribution of video games.
A year later, their determined business vision led them to start a project
of Internet content and access – Teleline – which later became
Terra - in partnership with Telefónica. During this time at Teleline,
Javier Pérez held the roll of CEO and General Manager until 1996.
That same year, and after selling 50% of TeleLine to Telefonica, both brothers
set up LaNetro and Pyro Studios.
Pyro Studios was founded to produce and develop video games of the highest
creativity and innovation. Today it is the main developer of digital entertainment
in Spain. The first title ‘Commandos’, and its successive versions,
together with ‘Praetorians’ and ‘Imperial Glory’,
are distributed in over 50 countries and have received recognition throughout
the world.
LaNetro launched in 1996 the first Internet portal in Spain with in-depth
content on leisure information and local services. In 2002, LaNetro focused
its business on contents and services for mobile phones (MVAS or Mobile
Value Added Services). At the end of 2004, LaNetro acquired the mobile
content pioneer Zed from the Nordic operator TeliaSonera, changing its
name to LaNetro Zed and becoming one of the world’s largest mobile
content companies.
In the meantime, in 2002 Javier and Ignacio started a new business by founding
Ilion Studios. Focused on the production of high budget, state-of-the-art
computer animated films. Its first film ‘Planet One’ is expected
to be launched in 2008 counting on a $50m budget.
